Settling in Procedure

St John’s Nursery operates a settling in procedure, details of which are found below. This is to ensure that both parents/carers and children are comfortable with this new environment before commencing full sessions.

Both AM & PM sessions are listed below: please take a note of the session that affects your child.

Day 1
Child should attend for 1 HOUR at either 09.30 – 10.30 or 13.30 – 14.30
(Parent/carer must remain with the child in the nursery playroom or waiting area)

Day 2
Child should attend for 1.5 HOURS at either 09.30 – 11.00 or 13.30 – 15.00

Day 3
Child should attend for 2 HOURS at either 09.30 – 11.30 or 13.30 – 15.30

The plan for the first 3 days of your child’s time at nursery is outlined above. This plan is standard practice for all children and must be adhered to.

On days 2 and 3 parents/carers can leave the nursery building altogether but you must be reachable by telephone in case there are any issues with your child settling at nursery.

Day 4 & 5

Depending on how your child has settled at nursery, they may be able to attend full sessions on these days. This will be a decision that is made by your child’s keyworker and staff within the room.

Nursery session times

Monday – Friday

AM Session 08.45 – 11.55
PM Session 12.30 – 15.40
